As we hear of thousands of people joining the ranks of the unemployed each and every month, this is bound to send a shiver down our spines and leave us feeling more insecure over our present employment. We fully appreciate the fact that we are lucky to have our jobs and may be prepared to do whatever it takes to hold on to it and ride out the current crisis.
Alas, many employers are fully aware of this present mentality and this is why tens of thousands of disgruntled employees are seeking professional help over employment law issues.
The fact remains that even during this crisis, all employees have an absolute right to have their rights of employment respected and upheld at all times. It is unlawful for any employer to request any compromise to your rights to your rights of employment: be this anything from not allowing you to take your statutory breaks or demanding that you work more hours than the law dictates.
Employees are always reticent about taking action in this regard and this is understandable; after all, it does feel as though the employer is holding the trump cards here. But, if you believe your rights of employment have become in any way unlawful, seek free and professional advice as soon as possible.
If it were to transpire that your employer was acting unlawfully, the matter could tactfully be brought to their attention and an opportunity to rectify the issues would be allowed. If the employer were still to act unlawfully - this would give you very strong grounds for an employment tribunal.
